Who cannot help but adore his images!!,he has had access to the most amazing locations, models & stylsits and has produced some incredible work. True escapism at its best!.

A House of Portfolios

I recently got my new book!. It seems to have taken forever from choosing, ordering & arriving. But, I collected my new A3 Leather portfolio embossed with my name and 40 pages last week along with matching carry case.

Its beautiful, although I am concerned that I don't want anyone else to touch it as it does look so perfect!! I will provide special gloves when I show it Ha . Where did I get it?. Well House of Portfolios of course. Not heard of them?.

I went to the Dentist

Today I went to the dentist!, I hate going to the dentist.....
You know drills,pain, tooth extraction ouch.

I was thinking back to a shoot I did a while ago. Make up artist Rose Angus & I spent 11 hours shooting different styles of close up lip shots, really intense but fun and worth while.

I keep saying to my dentist that I will take along an image for him to put up on his pin board. He is an avid landscape photographer and there are always amazing photos of scotland plus various exotic places peering down as I pretend that I am happy about being there . So I thought it was about time I contributed to the visuals.

But is my close up of perfect red lips with teeth holding a chocolate right for a dentist's ceiling.
Now this really is a blogging question........
p.s. and yest it was shot with my Canon 100mm macro lens!

What Have I been Shooting?

... My Snip story of course.
Spent the other weekend working on my Snip project with Make Up Artist Rose Angus & Model Emma Weldon. Shooting with an old Elinchrom square 44 dish with a honeycomb grid and lots of diffusion. Fantastic light and so flattering for beauty. I wish they where still made. They are like gold dust so if anyone has one they don't want any more I will have it!!!!!!!

Beauty Dishes

I have been shooting alot with Elinchrom Lighting recently. Over the years I have worked my way around their lighting accessories and have fallen in Love with their 7ocm silver maxisoft dish. Throw in a silver deflector and add a shower cap when you need the extra soft edge and its perfect.I seem to spend most of my time shooting with this for beauty and even portrait work.

The dish has just the right amount of kick to the light whilst still retaining some softness with the shower cap, giving a very crisp result. You can get a similar result by shooting with an elinchrom rotalux softbox minus the inner & outer diffuser then add a silver deflector. Although aaaah the maxisoft has that old skool feel.... but you may have to reserve an area in your house/studio to store it!!! ....a drum case is also a good idea.
